About Me

I’m Timothy. You may know me as that nerdy little kid, the blonde haired, blue eyed boy you could never get rid of. Thats me.(: What some of you may not know though, is what is behind the scenes to make me, me. There is a lot of things that have changed in my heart and in my path to growing up and trying to find what God’s purpose is in my life.

To start off, I want to remind every one of you how much i love you. You all have played a role in my life, whether big or small, that has made me who I am today. Thank you for that. Now here is a little bit of what has happened to me since I left High School and thought I had life all figured out. To begin with, I am still at OCC studying Criminal Justice. I will graduate this spring and have my associates in that section of Applied Science. This has been in my plans since I was in high school. But how many of us know God likes to shake up our plans. Between failed friendships, undesirable circumstances, and the shock of adult life, I fell from the plan God had for me. For the first time in my life, I started getting in with the wrong crowd. For 6 months, I did everything I was taught not to do. I partied on the weekend, fell into sin, and just wasn’t seeking the Lord like I knew I should. There was a point where I asked myself, ‘Do you really think you would make it to Heaven if Jesus came back’. God used that moment to show me that I was going down a path that I didn’t want to go. That’s when I began to seek him like I had never before.

After that period of sin, God started to show me that I needed to do something different to strengthen my walk so this doesn’t happen again. That is when He reminded me of Focus One. Focus was first shown to me in high school when I went to church camp. When I heard about it, I didn't know why anybody would want to do this. What Focus One consists of, is a 10 month span of time in which you get no college credit, are away from your family, and spend a large sum of money. But my opinion of this program changed drastically after I graduated. Some of you may know Focus One as Master’s Commision. That was the name of it years ago. In short, what Focus is, is 10 months spent strengthening your walk of faith, and serving the Lord every day. It is a program established by the City First church in Rockford Illinois. They have 4 common core values they try and establish in you within the period of time, including spiritual discipline, personal responsibility, relationship values, as well and focusing on your strengths and purpose. Not only that, but we spend as much time learning those values, as we do serving the church, the community, as well as the world. We are required to be a part of some type of ministry in the church. We also volunteer our time at food pantries and other places to help the community. All in all, I am beyond excited to attend what is now called City First Leadership College. Here is my journey.
